Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the siliXon website, dashboard, and electronics design platform (together, the "Service"), operated by SILIXON LIMITED, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16614979), whose registered office is at 1-2 Paris Gardens, London SE1 8ND ("siliXon", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

siliXon lets you describe, design, and iterate on electronics, including printed circuit board (PCB) designs, using natural language and automated design tools. The Service is currently offered as a beta: features may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued at any time while we develop the platform.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use the Service. You can register with an email address and password or sign in with a third-party identity provider such as Google. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account.

3. Your content

You keep all rights to the designs, schematics, files, prompts, and other content you create or upload to the Service ("Your Content"). We do not claim ownership of your designs. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, and display Your Content to operate and improve the Service, including showing the boards you publish to Community to other users as described in section 4. When you publish a board, you confirm that you have the rights to license it under the Community licence in section 4, so that others may use, change, make, and sell it.

4. Community

Community lets signed-in users share their boards and copy each other's.

  • What gets published. On the Free plan, new projects are public: a board is published to Community once it passes every manufacturing check. On Pro you can keep a project private. Projects created before Community are published only if you choose to. You can make a board private at any time.
  • What others see. Other signed-in users see the published board design, its project name, and your username. They never see your chat with Rocky, your project history, your project description, or your private notes. Each published version is frozen and does not change.
  • The licence for copies. Every published board is licensed to other users under the CERN Open Hardware Licence Version 2, Permissive (CERN-OHL-P-2.0). Anyone who copies it may use, change, make, and sell it, as long as they keep the licence and credit notices.
  • Credit. Every copy carries a credit naming the original board and your username. The credit stays in copies even if you later change your username or make the board private.
  • Copies stay. Copies other users made before you made a board private stay theirs, because the licence cannot be taken back.
  • Moderation. Anyone can report a board. We may hide or remove a board that breaks these Terms or the law, and we tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@silixon.io (see section 11). Removed boards are deleted after 30 days, unless a review is still open.
  • Copied boards come as is. A board you copy was designed by someone else. Passing our automated manufacturing checks does not mean a board is safe or fit for any purpose. You are responsible for checking it before you make or use it (see section 6).

5. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service for anything unlawful or to infringe others' rights.
  • Do not publish designs you do not have the right to share, or other people's personal information.
  • Do not publish pornography, or anything that encourages, promotes, or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders. This applies to everyone, at any age.
  • Do not publish anything that bullies or abuses people, stirs up hatred, encourages serious violence, dares people into dangerous stunts, or encourages harmful use of drugs or other substances.
  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users' data.
  • Do not resell, scrape, or reverse engineer the Service without our written consent.
  • Do not use the Service to design devices intended to cause harm or that are illegal to produce in your jurisdiction.

6. Engineering disclaimer

The Service produces automated design output. It is a design aid, not a substitute for professional engineering review. You are solely responsible for validating, testing, and certifying any design, including boards you copy from Community, before manufacturing, distributing, or deploying it, including compliance with applicable safety, EMC, and regulatory requirements.

7. Beta availability and data

During the beta we aim for, but do not guarantee, continuous availability or the preservation of data. Keep copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. We may impose usage limits to keep the Service reliable.

8. Our intellectual property

The Service itself, including its software, models, interfaces, and branding, is owned by siliXon or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in the Service other than the right to use it as described here.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these Terms or that creates risk for the Service or other users. We close accounts that we believe are run by or for a proscribed (banned) organisation. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as sections 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12) survive it.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, siliXon will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Illegal content, reports and complaints

  • Illegal content is not allowed. That includes terrorism content and child sexual abuse material, which we treat as the most serious. Community boards cannot contain photos or videos.
  • How to report. Use the Report button on any board, or email hello@silixon.io with a link to the board, what is wrong, and how to reach you. You do not need a siliXon account to email us.
  • How fast we act. Reports of terrorism content, child sexual abuse material, other unsafe content, or personal information are urgent: we review them within 4 hours. We review other reports, including copyright, within 24 hours. When we are told about illegal content or find it ourselves, we hide it straight away while we check, and remove it if it is illegal.
  • Keeping younger users safe. You must be 16 or older to use siliXon, so 16- and 17-year-olds can use Community. The content banned in section 5 is banned for everyone, so no user of any age should come across it. Report it as unsafe and we review it within 4 hours, and remove it. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we close it.
  • Automated tools. We do not use automated tools to screen Community content today. If we start, we will explain here what they do and when they run.
  • Appeals. If we hide or remove your board, we tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@silixon.io. We decide appeals within 7 days, and if we were wrong we put your board back.
  • Other complaints. To complain about how we handle reports, or about how we meet our duties under UK online safety law (including freedom of expression and privacy), email hello@silixon.io. Our person responsible for online safety handles these and replies within 14 days.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material we will give you reasonable notice (for example by email or an in-product notice). Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
